We are excited to announce that the first phase of construction is expected to begin on July 29th! Subscribe to receive emails about new Building Project posts, and keep reading for the latest updates for families and community members.

HPNC has hired a General Contractor and our building permit is close to finalization. We know our families and community members are eager to stay informed and up-to-date about this process.

Here are our current updates:

DEMOLITION – We are working toward a July 29 start date. Minimal interruption of utilities is expected, likely only a couple hours at a time, and perhaps a day here or there. We expect to have notice prior to utility shut-offs, and we will provide as much notice to families and partners as we have available to us. Our plan is to continue programs as usual.

NOISE – Noise is an unavoidable reality of construction. However, HPNC is working with our General Contractor to schedule the noisiest activities early in the morning before our youth, families, partners, and staff arrive whenever possible.

SAFETY – To keep our community members safe during construction, HPNC is working with our General Contractor to ensure the highest safety standards. Safety measures will include:

  • Identifying alternative entrances/exits for visitors, partners, and staff.

  • Designated specific entry/exit for construction workers, separate from visitor, partner and staff entry/exit.

  • Delineating clear walking paths.

  • Installing safety fencing around construction areas.

  • Staging construction equipment in areas that are inaccessible to children.

  • Temporarily closing certain areas as needed.

  • Sealing off construction areas with air-tight seals.

RESTROOMS – Timing is not yet clear, but at the point when HPNC’s restrooms will need to be temporarily closed, we expect to install deluxe portable restrooms in HPNC’s driveway, accessible from the gym’s back door. These will be secured behind our fence and inaccessible to the general public. Deluxe portable restrooms will include flush-toilets, hand sanitizer, and sinks with soap for handwashing.

COMMUNICATION – We have set up a Building Project newsfeed here on our blog, where we will post the most current logistical information and project updates. We plan to send a MailChimp email to all subscribers whenever a new update is posted here. Please sign up to receive these updates using our Building Project webform.
